What’s the best way to eat?

Keep it in a fridge for about 2 hours before eating.

Takami Melon is juicy, thick and firm, which keeps for a long time. To know the right time to eat, press the bottom of it gently with your fingers. When it got to be soft, it’s the right time. (It takes about 3days after the purchase)

There was a melon which is so bitter as to have my tongue numb.

We’re afraid of those.

  1. The melon is ripe too much and stimulants such as ethanol, ethyl acetate, the carbon dioxide were produced.
  2. A bitterness ingredient (cucurbitacin) which is peculiar to the gourd family crops such as melons were included more than usual.

About Radioactivity

How do you perform radioactivity inspections?

We usually crush the edible parts of melons for the inspections into fine pieces, fill up the measuring container with crushed melons, put the container into the measuring room and measure for 15 minutes to 1 hour. When the measurement is done, we confirm that the result calculated by the computer is correct by comparing with the graph which is output, and then the inspections ends.

Is Iioka Takami Melon safe?

Although we have inspected since the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster just happened, the radioactivity has been never detected. You can know about the result of the inspections at the following website.

What does “nondetection” mean?

We introduced our melons as a “nondetection” product in the case of that there is no detection in the Iioka Melon inspection condition. The detection limit in this condition is approx.5~10Bq/kg.
